We are excited to launch our Apprentice Dental Surgeon program for newly qualified dental surgeons who are completing, or have recently completed, DF1 Vocational Training.
Our program is an employed position designed to provide a thorough grounding and introduction in the provision of high quality general and cosmetic dentistry. You will enjoy extensive training and exposure in general dentistry, endodontics, short-term orthodontics, dental implants, periodontology, advanced diagnostics and CT scan reporting, sedation, oral surgery and complex treatment planning and management. You will also develop softer skills in patient communication, fee management, team management and clinical compliance.
Following successful completion of the programme, you will be considered for progression as an Associate Dental Surgeon.
We operate three dental surgeries across the North Wales region, with a continuing programme of growth and acquisition.
Our Colwyn Bay site is a six-surgery private only practice with plans to expand to seven surgeries. Our Porthmadog practice operates four surgeries, and our Llangefni practice operates three surgeries with plans to expand to four.
Modern surgical facilities are complimented by digital Carestream intra-oral services. Our Porthmadog practice also benefits from a digital Sirona OPG and our Colwyn Bay practice operates digital Sirona XG3D OPG and CT scan services.
We offer the full range of general and cosmetic dental care patients should expect including Invisalign®, EMS Air-Flow®, facial aesthetics and advanced surgical and restorative procedures, many of which are supported with in-house referrals across the Group. Our dental implant clinics place around 500 dental implants per year.
Independently owned and operated by Dr Trevor Ferguson (Immediate Past Dean FGDP(UK)) and Aaron Ferguson ACA (Chartered Accountant), the Group takes a modern, patient-focused approach to care that focuses on the quality of provision, not volume.
The experienced, commercial management team is supported by a dedicated clinical leadership team that includes practitioners with Diplomas in Restorative and Implant Dentistry, various MSc qualifications and PhD candidates. They have extensive, proven experience and track records in mentoring and supporting forward-looking colleagues who wish to develop their careers.
Throughout the year you’ll enjoy both formal and informal mentoring from a range of clinicians. Mentoring is led by Dr Trevor Ferguson (Clinical Director) and Dr Mark Gibson (Senior Associate Dental Surgeon). Between the clinical team you’ll benefit from access to two FGDP Fellows, two DipImpDents, an MSc (Restorative), DipRestDent, PhD candidate and a combined 55 years’ clinical experience.
As a former Dean of the Faculty of General Dental Practice RCS(Eng) Trevor has extensive experience in mentoring and developing practitioners in both clinical and softer skills. Trevor’s clinical interest lies almost exclusively with dental implants, in which he has built over 16 years’ experience.
Mark has worked in general practice for 27 years building expertise in complex periodontal, aesthetic and restorative cases in addition to dental implant cases and facial aesthetics. For the past 22 years, he has been an educational supervisor with the responsibility of being a teacher, examiner, facilitator and mentor to many newly qualified and postgraduate dentists both at Liverpool University and Faculty of General Dental Practitioners.
